Outline and Background

This was a two day CHAOS trip, up Mt Dana on Saturday to place a summit register, camp at Hodgdon Meadow Campground, up Indian Canyon Sunday and back to the Bay Area. Joined by Daniel P, Julian J, and Robert P.

Planning and Route Description

Mt Dana, being, for me, a service trip, and for Julian J a first ascent, we took my usual semi-loop. Up to the saddle, across to the NW Ridge and up the ridge to the summit. Going down, straight down the west side of the peak to the saddle and the trail there.

Hike Description

Steep and scenic as always. I was gratified by the airtightness of the summit register I hauled up (lid popped up from the sea-level pressure when I unlocked it). With any luck it will escape the fate of the old summit register, gone all these years.

Summary and Technical Details

About 6 miles, 3100' of ascent, in 4 hours. Bunnyhike rating: 57

Weather and Conditions

Overcast and cold at the summit.
