A dayhike over the Golden Gate to do some brushing on the Rodeo Valley Cutoff. Lopping and pruning of ingrowing scrub over ~0.5 mile between the trail split and saddle above the meadow. Map(s) of perambulations below.
Estimated mileage 12 miles, total ascent, about 1800'
This is a non-abandoned, but not maintained trail, apparently the Park Service drives an ATV through it from time to time to keep it "open", but it was badly grown in when I tackled it. Mostly relatively slow growing low scrub (under 6'), lopped and pruned back to hiking standards. The tread has trapped a seep near the top and is eroded and intermittently flooded, otherwise the tread is in decent shape, formerly a jeep track.
Overcast and mild.
